Helleborus xnigercors Helleborus x nigercors
As with  H. x ericsmithii, H. x nigercors is an interspecies cross which was largely unknown in the US until the mid 1990's. A hybrid between H. niger and H. argutifolius, the appearance of the individual plants depends on the parents used to create the cross. Since there are many forms of H. niger, the flowers of H. x nigercors may be large and round or small and star shaped, with numerous intermediates. Foliage may also vary from a more blued green with few teeth resembling H niger to a very sharply gray green from the H. argutifolius parent. H. x nigercors has been a wonderful garden plant in our Zone 7 garden and is reported to be hardy with some protection in much colder areas. Since this is still a fairly new plant to American horticulture the full range of hardiness is not yet known.
As with H. x ericsmithii H. x nigercors is sterile and will not produce seeds.

Helleborus xnigercors 'White Beauty' aka 'Micha White Beauty'   Helleborus 'White Beauty'
A selection of H. xnigercors, this many flowered hybrid has been growing in our gardens for a over a decade.  Propagated by tissue culture,  many white flowers open on each stem.                                                                      4" $10.00        qt. $20.00

Helleborus xnigercors 'Green Corsican'  Helleborus xnigercors 'Green Corsican'
TC clone from Japan which we have grown here for several years with good results. The flowers are cream tinged with green
and are displayed above the foliage.                                                                                           4" $10.00        qt. $20.00

Helleborus x 'Snow White'  Helleborus x 'Snow White'
A most unusual plant from the esteemed Yokoyama Nursery in Japan, a hybrid between H. niger and H x hybridus. Many very
large pure white flowers are borne on each plant.  Produced from tissue culture so each plant is the same.     4' $15.00      qt. $30.00
Helleborus xsternii  Helleborus x sternii
An interspecies hybrid between H. niger and H. lividus and as with the other interspecies hybrids may vary really depending on parentage. H. x sternii is root hardy into Zone 6 (and perhaps colder) but the flowers suffer in prolonged freezing temperatures. Quite frequently even in our Zone 7 gardens the foliage freezes off, leaving the flowers blooming on an empty stalk. When this happens it is perhaps best to cut off the flower stalk and simply enjoy  the summer foliage as one would with a Hosta or other deciduous perennial.
H. x sternii is fertile and will produce seeds seed strains are very variable and must be controlled by rouging out any plants which do not conform to the strain.                                                                                                          4" $10.00     qt. $20.00

Helleborus x sternii  'Montrose' Strain   Helleborus x sternii 'Montrose' Strain
While the foliage of this form is not as silver or gray as some of the others we have seen, H. x sternii 'Montrose' from nearby Hillsborough NC is possibly hardier.                                                                                      4" $10.00     qt. $20.00

Helleborus x sternii  'Pine Knot' Strain   Helleborus x sternii 'Pine Knot' Strain
We created this form by backcrossing H. lividus onto H. x sternii 'Montrose Strain. It has more of the rose coloring in leaf and flower than Montrose, but not as much as the English forms. Hardier?                                              4" $10.00     qt. $20.00
