Helleborus niger 'Winter Moonlight' Strain  Helleborus niger 'Winter Moonlight'
This was the first selection that we deemed unusual enough to warrant micro propagation. A failed cross between H. niger and H. argutifolius, it has the much publicized "hybrid vigor" and grows like no other niger we have seen. Buds and blooms appear in December and when we gather seeds in June the "Superniger" is still flowering. Stems are tall, to 15" and produce two flowers per stem. Excellent as cut flowers as well as in the garden. Foliage is blue green, with white veins prominent on new leaves. Flowers are typical niger, white and round with a large boss of pure gold stamens.
4" $10.00         qt. $15.00

Helleborus niger 'Double Fantasy  H n Double Fantasy
A selection done by tissue culture in Japan. Early flowers are fully double while later flowers may be semi double or single.
Very heavily flowering and fertile. Plants may be used in breeding.
4" $10.00    qt. $25.00

Helleborus odorus Helleborus odorus
This species has large chartreuse green flowers which may be scented. 2" flowers on 16-29" plants. Zone 4-8   $10.00   qt.  $15.00

Helleborus purpurascens  Helleborus purpurascens
Deep purple or green and purple blooms open as they push through the soil, goes dormant in late summer here. Wonderful in the garden, colours are very good with early spring bulbs. Zone 4-8                                                                  4" $10.00          qt.  $15.00

Helleborus thibetanus Helleborus thibetanus
A very unusual hellebore from China and Tibet, unknown to westerners not too long ago. Pale pink blooms resemble tissue or crepe paper, and fade to a pale almost white green. Plants go dormant in summer, emerging by Christmas in our garden.  Zones 4-8    $25.00

Helleborus torquatus (limited)  Helleborus torquatus
This very rare species is slow to mature and plants may not flower for 6+ years.  Flowers may be blued green inside with purple veining and purple on the outside, but can be all purple or all green. Helleborus torquatus 2 Helleborus torquatus 3   4" $10.00  qt. $25.00

Helleborus vesicarius Helleborus vesicarius
From Turkey,  this is perhaps the most unusual hellebore and in many ways it does not resemble a hellebore at all. The flowers are slightly similar to H. foetidus, the foliage is reminiscent of celery and it goes dormant very early. We can only offer this on site and we can not guarantee that it will live. Until recently we lost every plant we put outside, but we keep trying, perhaps we will live long enough to see it bloom. As a container plant it has the decidedly difficult habit of needing a bit of water while dormant, but 2 teaspoons too many seem to kill it. Not for the faint of heart, or for people who feel badly if they kill plants (perhaps we should recommend an anti-depressant as an accompaniment?)                                                                                  4" $10.00           qt. $30.00

Helleborus viridis  H. viridis
A special addition to the woodland with Celadon or chartreuse green blooms,  early flowering and very hardy. Foliage is a good textural asset                                                                                                                                 Zone 4-8   4" $10.00  qt.  $15.00
