The first commercial selection of H. x ballardiae that we have offered. HGC 'Pink Frost' is from the nursery of Joseph Heuger in Glandorf Germany 'Pink Frost' is part of the Heuger Gold Collection. http://www.helleborus.us/HelleborusGoldCollection.html We visited Joseph at his nursery in 2004 when we were interviewing and photographing breeders for our hellebore book and we were very impressed with the collection of Helleborus niger. We are conservative with all the newer, untested clones as far as zones go, 6/9 is conservative. The Heuger Company lists hardiness as -20 degrees F. We pass this along with the caution that the plants are new to cultivation in the US and Canada and have not been well tested. Zones 6-9

Poor shipping, Weak plant. Not a good value for the price. Would not recommend.
I'm sorry I don't have time to write a review for each one of these plants, but I can tell you that I wouldn't give any one of them more than two stars, and the headline for each would be "Disappointed". For the prices you charged, I expected robust, healthy plants with a half dozen stems or more, not the puny one or two stems that arrived. I didn't expect blooms, and I wasn't disappointed in that regard, but the blooms that did arrive all look the same. I seriously think that all of the plants with blooms are from your generic group of Hellebores, not the specific plants I wanted. As it turns out, I've discovered that I can actually find nearly all of these locally, mostly at nearly half to one third the price. So, I certainly won't be ordering from you again.
The worst part of the deal was the shipping, however, and I think you should have a long talk with UPS. The box arrived squashed on all four sides, with dirt falling out, cracked pots, and broken stems (your packaging doesn't do much to protect those), and by the time it arrived on my porch, it looked like the driver had kicked it down the driveway. Of course, I know that the plants will be fine as soon as they are planted and given some care, but the form of their arrival was less than pleasing.
So, that's what I would have to say.
I am very sorry that you are disappointed with your plants and the packaging. Dick has tried very hard to develop a method of packing boxes so the trials of shipping do not completely destroy the contents. Usually it is successful, but there are always the ones that are not so lucky.
We will be happy to replace any plants that were damaged or unsatisfactory.
Regarding the colour on the O'Byrne Northwest Garden Nursery plants that you say all look the same, please remember that our season is at least a month or so ahead of yours. These hellebores began to bloom in February and what you are seeing is the dried or drying remnants of the flowers. Ernie and Marietta O'Bryne work very hard to make sure their plants are as close to the colours shown on their photos as possible. That's why we buy and resell their plants.
Please let me know what you would like for us to do to make you happy.
