Visits
We are happy to
have visits from plant folk who travel, just please telephone
first to see if we are around and free the time you'd like to come.
Our phone number is 434-252-1990 fax number is 434-252-0768 and
email is judith@pineknotfarms.com We do not want
to ruin anyone's birthday treat or seem inhospitable, but please let
us know you are coming.
We are on a bit of Virginia that
is separated from the rest of the state by Kerr Lake, if you look at
a map of the North Carolina/ Virginia state line area you will see
Kerr Lake in approximately the middle of the state north of Durham
N.C. Doing this will help you to understand the directions, which
while they may sound confusing, are really quite
simple.
Directions: From the South via Interstate 85 From
the south take I 85 to exit 214 which is hyw. 39 north. At the
Henderson NC exit 214 off the Interstate go left (north) on Hwy
39 for 17 miles, you will cross into Va. (See below)
Directions: From the North via Interstate
95 to 85 From north take Interstate-95 to I 85 to
exit 214 which is NC hwy 39 north. At the Henderson NC exit 214 off
the Interstate, go right (north) on Hwy 39 for 17 miles, you will
cross into Va. (See below)
When you cross into Va on Hwy 39 There is no sign saying welcome to Va., but the road
surface changes to a sort of gravely asphalt,
no reflector blips, or side line markings and Va.
doesn't mow the verges out here, you'll know when you enter a
different state. Also
if you look back over your shoulder you may see the "Welcome to
North Carolina" sign receding into the distance. 1/2
mile after the state line our sign is on the left beside two
mailboxes and our
driveway. You can't see the nursery from here, but we are up the
hill and we are the only thing up here. If you
miss our turn there is a store called the Trading Post
on the right 1/2 mile past us, turn around if you reach this.
From Hwy
15: Leaving Clarksville, follow
15 south toward Oxford NC,
you will cross into N.C. about 6 miles outside of town. After
entering N.C. take the second road to the left, marked Townsville
Rd. (there are several signs one for U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
Ivy Creek and Island Hill recreational areas) take this left turn and follow it
about 6 more miles without turning. You will pass a store on the
left called The Trading Post (now closed) which is set in a big curve, 1/2 mile past
the store our sign and turn are on the right. We are the only thing
up the hill. If you miss the turn and go back into N.C. in another
1/2 mile you've gone too far, turn around and come back. Hotels in Henderson NC Hotels in Clarksville Va
