About Helleborus x nigercors

As the name indicates, H. x nigercors is a hybrid between H. niger and H.  argutifolius, which is sometimes called the Corsican hellebore.  H. nigercors clones may open pale cream and mature to white, often with green in the center. Many forms age to a chartreuse or green.  Blooms arise from the center of the stems as do those of the caulescent group, but new flowers also emerge from below soil level similar to the acaulescent group.
H. x nigercors may be the hardiest of all the interspecies hybrids.  One clone at least has been tested in Zone 4 and has been hardy for several years. We need years of growing these plants to make an accurate statement.
About interspecies hybrids in general. The blood from both parents is visible in the offspring to varying degrees. Just as with humans a child may resemble one of it's parents, be a mixture of both, or skip back a generation and resemble a relative. Since each individual parent pair is unique, each hybrid will be slightly different while still resembling the "family".  This is the reason various clones of the interspecies hybrids may sound similar in verbal descriptions but each clone will have individual properties and a distinct appearance. Most are sterile.
